Ordering for the First Time
What is the easiest way to try Nika Pet Food for the first time?
The easiest way to start is with our Complete Range Bundle, which includes all seven of our complete freshly cooked recipes. It gives your dog a chance to try different flavours and helps you discover which meals suit them best before placing a larger repeat order.
Do I need to choose one recipe straight away?
No. Many customers prefer to start with a mixed selection, especially if their dog has not tried freshly cooked food before. Once you know which recipes your dog enjoys most, you can order those favourites again or build a routine around them.
On the website, our meals are usually sold in batches of three. However, if you would like a more personalised mix, you can place your order by email at info@nikapetfood.com. Just tell us exactly how many packs of each recipe you would like. Personalised email orders need to include at least 10 packs in total.
How should I introduce freshly cooked food to my dog?
Most dogs do best when new food is introduced gradually. Start by mixing a small amount of Nika Pet Food with your dog’s usual food, then slowly increase the amount over several days. Keep an eye on appetite, stools, energy and general comfort. If your dog has a medical condition, allergies, a sensitive stomach, or you are unsure about changing their diet, speak to your vet before making changes.
What happens after I place an order?
After you place your order, we prepare it for delivery and keep you informed using the contact details provided at checkout. When your food arrives, unpack it promptly and store it safely. If you are not using the food straight away, place the packs in the freezer. If you are using some of the food soon, move only the amount your dog will use within the next three days into the fridge.
If anything looks wrong with your order, please contact us as soon as possible so we can help.
Delivery
Where do you deliver?
You can place an order through our website. If you are unsure whether we can deliver to your area, please contact us before ordering and we will confirm the best available option.
Do you deliver locally in East Sussex?
Nika Pet Food is based in East Sussex. If you are local and have a question about delivery, collection, or the best way to receive your order, please contact us before placing your order so we can advise you.
Can I check delivery before I pay?
If you are not sure whether delivery is available for your area, or if you have a specific timing question, please email or call us before ordering. We would much rather answer the question first than leave you uncertain at checkout.
What should I do if I need my order for a specific day?
Please contact us before placing the order. We will always try to help where possible, but we do not recommend leaving fresh food orders until the last minute if your dog is running low.
What happens if I miss a delivery?
If you think you may miss a delivery, please contact us as early as possible. Fresh dog food needs to be handled carefully, so it is important to arrange delivery in a way that allows the food to be received and stored promptly.
What should I do if there is a problem with my delivery?
Please contact us as soon as possible with your order details and, if relevant, clear photos of the parcel or product. We will review the issue and advise on the next step.
Storage and Serving
How should I store Nika Pet Food when it arrives?
Please unpack your order promptly when it arrives. If you are not planning to use the food straight away, put the packs straight into the freezer. If you are going to use some of the food soon, move only the amount your dog will eat within the next three days into the fridge.
Freshly cooked dog food should be handled carefully and stored appropriately so it stays in good condition for your dog.
Can I freeze Nika Pet Food?
Yes. You can put Nika Pet Food packs into the freezer. Defrost food safely before serving, ideally by moving the amount you need into the fridge in advance. Once food has been defrosted, do not freeze it again. Once food has been served or left out, do not put it back into the fridge for later.
How long does an opened pack last?
Once opened, keep the food covered and refrigerated, and use it within 3 days. If the food smells unusual, looks different from expected, or has been left out for too long, do not feed it to your dog.
Should Nika Pet Food be served cold or warm?
Many dogs enjoy freshly cooked food served slightly warmed or at room temperature. If you warm the food, do so gently and make sure it is not hot before serving. Never serve food that could burn your dog’s mouth.
How much should I feed my dog?
Feeding amounts depend on your dog’s weight, age, activity level, body condition and individual needs. As a broad starting point, an average healthy, neutered adult dog may need around 20 to 30 calories per pound of body weight per day, which is approximately 45 to 65 calories per kilogram of body weight per day, to maintain their current weight.
This is only a guide, because every dog is different. If you are unsure how much your dog needs, please contact us and we will calculate an estimate for your dog free of charge. If your dog needs a weight-management diet or has a health condition, ask your vet for tailored advice.
Can I mix Nika Pet Food with my dog’s current food?
Yes, many customers use Nika Pet Food as part of a gradual transition. Mixing old and new food can help your dog adjust. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, introduce changes slowly and monitor them carefully.
Products and Ingredients
What type of dog food do you make?
Nika Pet Food makes freshly cooked dog food using real ingredients. Our meals are prepared in small batches and are designed for dog owners who want a practical alternative to heavily processed pet food.
Are your recipes complete meals?
Several of our recipes are complete meals, while some products may be intended as toppers or variety additions. Please check each product description before ordering so you know exactly how that product should be used.
Do you use artificial preservatives or fillers?
Our focus is on honest, freshly cooked food made with real ingredients. Product pages explain the ingredients used in each recipe so you can choose the best option for your dog.
Which recipe should I choose for my dog?
If you are unsure, the Complete Range Bundle is a helpful first step because it lets your dog try a variety of recipes. You can also contact us for general guidance.
For medical concerns, allergies or special dietary needs, please speak to your vet. If your dog has specific recommendations or health-related dietary requirements, Monika, our Canine Nutritionist, may be able to prepare a batch specifically cooked for your dog. Please email info@nikapetfood.com to discuss what your dog needs.
Can you cook a personalised batch for my dog?
Yes, in some cases we can prepare a personalised batch. This may be useful for dogs with special recommendations, dietary preferences or health-related needs. Please email info@nikapetfood.com with details of your dog, and Monika will advise whether a specially cooked batch is suitable.
If your dog has a diagnosed medical condition or has been advised to follow a veterinary diet, please involve your vet before changing food.
Subscriptions and Repeat Orders
Do you offer subscriptions?
Yes, Nika Pet Food offers subscription options for customers who want regular deliveries. Subscription availability, details and pricing may vary, so please check the subscription page or contact us before setting one up.
How much does a subscription cost?
The cost depends on the products you choose, how often you order, and how much your dog needs. As a simple example, if a dog eats one 400g pack per day, the weekly food cost would be based on seven packs. If your dog eats more or less than this, your cost will change. We recommend using your dog’s feeding needs as the starting point, then choosing the order frequency that suits your household.
Can I change what I order regularly?
Yes. Many dogs enjoy variety, and many owners adjust future orders once they know their dog’s favourite recipes. If you need help choosing a repeat order, contact us and we can talk you through the options.
Is a subscription right for every dog?
A subscription is useful if you already know your dog enjoys Nika Pet Food and you want a reliable routine. If you are ordering for the first time, it may be better to start with the Complete Range Bundle before deciding on a regular plan, or you can place your order by email if you would like a more personalised selection.
Returns, Changes and Support
Can I change my order after placing it?
If you need to change an order, contact us as quickly as possible. We will help where we can, but changes may not be possible once an order has already been prepared or dispatched.
Can I return fresh dog food?
Fresh food must be handled carefully, so returns may not work in the same way as shelf-stable products. Please read our delivery and returns information before ordering, and contact us promptly if you have a problem with an order.
Who should I contact if I need help?
Please email info@nikapetfood.com or call 01323 360077. Include your order number if your question relates to an existing order.
